Veterinarian Michael B. Porter DVM, PhD, DipACVIM
Dr. Michael Porter attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies, and then moved to Gainesville, Florida where he completed his graduate studies and veterinary degree at the University of Florida (1998). He completed a residency in large animal internal medicine at UF and in 2004 Dr. Porter developed the Mobile Equine Diagnostic Service (MEDS) at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. During this time he provided referral level veterinary services to horse owners and referring veterinarians throughout Florida and southern Georgia.
In the summer of 2010, Dr. Porter left UF and began Performance Horse Doc Veterinary Services. His practice specializes in internal medicine and advanced sports medicine. As such, Dr. Porter has developed a keen interest in equine rehabilitative medicine and considers it an essential component in the process of returning injured equine athletes to their respective careers.
As a consulting veterinarian for The Sanctuary, Dr. Porter plans to help develop protocols for dealing with injured equine athletes and hopes to create an environment of rehabilitative medicine that will be considered one of the best in the industry!
