Columbus, OH (October 12, 2011) – Five champions at the 45th Annual All American Quarter Horse Congress Champions share a common bond: they had their horses treated at The Sanctuary’s mobile unit, giving them a competitive edge that obviously paid off.  The five Congress Champions include Brian Welman on Reminhick, Javier Melo on Heza Bantie Rooster, Kyle Johnson on Jeans N Reeboks, Ann Admonius on Wimpys Tonnob, and Anne Bray on GR Right Starlight.  The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center, which is located in Ocala, Florida, took its mobile unit on the road this month to Columbus, Ohio to treat and condition the equine athletes competing at the Congress.  This year’s competitors have the chance to benefit from The Sanctuary’s advanced conditioning and rehabilitation therapies, which include a Cold Saltwater Leg Spa, Laser Therapy, Magna Wave, Zamar Hot/Cold Compression, and Transpirator II.

The All American Quarter Horse Congress is the largest single-breed horse show in the world, boasting more than 17,000 entries annually and is home away from home to nearly 8,500 registered American Quarter Horses during the three weeks of the show. The Sanctuary’s mobile unit will be on hand throughout the show, and is offering a variety of treatments for the equine competitor.  Brian Wellman, a decorated reining trainer and rider from Hastings, Minnesota, took home top honors on Travis Lemke’s Reminhick, as the pair were Congress Champions in the Senior Reining and tied for Reserve Champions in the NRHA Open Reining.  Welman used a variety of The Sanctuary’s services prior to competing, including the Cold Saltwater Leg Spa and Magna Wave.

Ann Admonius and her mount, Wimpys Tonnob, were Congress Champions in the NRHA Intermediate Non-Pro Reining division, and Admonius treated her horse to a Cold Saltwater Leg Spa before their ride.  Admonius is a veteran amateur Congress competitor, and is one of the few exhibitors who have won the Congress in three different disciplines: western pleasure, reining, and halter.  Admonius is based in Ocala, Florida, right around the bend from The Sanctuary’s primary multi-million dollar rehabilitation and conditioning facility that features all of the services of the mobile unit in addition to an Aqua-Pacer Treadmill and equine swimming pool.

“We are very proud that the horses we have treated so far went on to capture titles at this prestigious show,” said Terry Angelo, Manager of The Sanctuary’s Wellington, Florida location, The Sanctuary at PBIEC.  “The Sanctuary’s therapies are very similar to what professional human athletes undergo during training and competition, and we are happy to bring that level of care and technology to the equines here at Congress.”  The Cold Saltwater Leg Spa, a favorite among equestrian competitors, is the ideal treatment for legs.  With 35-degree turbulated saltwater, the leg spa eliminates pain, reduces swelling and inflammation, removes heat, increases circulation, relieves sore feet, and speeds healing.  “Horse owners see the benefit of our leg spa when they witness the relief their horses experience, and the benefits, which obviously helped boost our 5 champions to the top,” Angelo said.  “Our goal at Congress is to help all of the horses compete at the best of their ability, and clearly we are making strides toward that goal!”
