SANCTUARY :: Hoof Cracks
Pegasus Laser

-Laser therapy helps reduce the pain associated with an injury.
- Reduces swelling/ inflammation and speeds tissue repair, by stimulating vasodilatation which results in nutrients and oxygen to the injured area.
- Increases the production of joint fluid in order to help lubricate joints for easier movement

Cold Saltwater Leg Spa

- Immediate analgesic relief- pain relief due to the numbing effect of the 35 degree temperature salt water.
- Eliminates heat in the legs by closing down the capillaries in the legs and nearly halting circulation.
- The extremely high salt concentration in the water acts as a poultice to draw out inflammation and infection from the wound.
- After coming out of the leg spa the circulatory systems sends maximum blood flow to warm up the legs, increasing oxygenation to the damaged areas and speeding up the healing process

P3-Electromagnectic Pulse Therapy

- Electromagnetic waves stimulate deep muscle contraction creating a massaging effect and resulting in pain relief and muscle relaxation
- Helps relieve muscle spasms
- Increases circulation and oxygenation to muscle tissue
- Improves performance
- For joint disorders, pulsed therapy returns the natural regeneration capabilities and reactivates the cartilage and connective tissue to increase production of collagen and aid in the repair of the cartilage.

Aqua-Pacer

- The Aqua Pacer above ground water treadmill allows the horse to exercise with minimum concussion and up to 50% buoyancy.
-The speed of the treadmill and the depth of the water are controlled, which allows the therapist to target a specific injury or problem.
-This therapy encourages full range of motion in joints and limbs.
-The treadmill requires the horse to move both sides of his body equally, promoting healing and strengthening in an injured or weakened area.
-The resistance of the water helps increase muscle strength.
-The hydrostatic pressure of the water reduces swelling and inflammation in the legs.
-The clear panel on the side of the machine allows the therapist to see all four legs, to assure that the desired results are being achieved.

Swimming

- Will encourage full range of motion of joints and limbs for front limb injuries.
- Allows for exercise with no concussion, but increases cardiovascular health.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

-Hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases the oxygen levels in the horses body 12-15 times the normal amount.
-The increased pressure causes the oxygen to dissolve into the plasma, which allows it to diffuse into the tissue better.
-This elevated oxygen saturation stimulates the turnover of cells, increases blood supply, kills bacteria, enhances the effects of antibiotics, reduces swelling, salvages damaged tissue and bone, stimulates collagen production and improves skin growth.

Zamar-- cold and/or hot dry compression therapy

-Cold reduces swelling, pain, and heat through temperature and compression without wetting the legs or feet
-Good for injuries where the feet need to remain dry or where stitches are involved
-can be applied over medications or light dressing
-Heat therapy supports the final stages of healing when the body is actively replacing cells and repairing tissue by increasing circulation and oxygenation to the cells
- Stimulates hoof growth.

P3-Electromagnectic Pulse Machine

- Increases circulation and oxygenation to tissue.
- Stimulates hoof growth.
